The problem
The lodge wanted a Google remarketing campaign to bring back website visitors who hadn't booked. But the audiences in Google Ads never grew, and some visitors who tried to get in touch were seeing an error instead of a confirmation.
What I did
- Found the Google tag missing from 23 pages, including the homepage and contact page, and worked with their developer to install it site-wide
- Traced the contact form error to a broken Zapier connection and set up proper lead tracking
- Found the booking widget was already sending add to cart and checkout data, and forwarded it to Google Analytics instead of building fragile click tracking
- Added a consent banner with Google Consent Mode, which was blocking audiences from building
- Built eight remarketing audiences by intent level, a three-tier campaign structure and a media plan
The result
Tracking now covers the whole site, every lead and booking step is measured, and remarketing audiences started building for the first time.
"Beautiful work!" … "We will definitely go for the next project."
What this means for your business
"Too small to serve" usually isn't a traffic problem. It's often missing tags or missing consent signals. I wrote up the full fix here.
